LATENT PRINT EXAMINER

A private company seeks several Latent Print Examiners for employment as civilian contractors supporting US military activity
on-base in Iraq. CLPEs trained to competency in a state or federal ASCLD/LAB accredited laboratory, with recent Latent Print
Examiner employment experience are preferred.
Duties include but are not limited to the following:
•        Supervising and evaluating/examining evidence for the presence of identifiable impressions;
•        Supervising and assisting Crime Scene Technicians and Evidence Custodians regarding limited evidence processing,
preservation and stabilization procedures (normally only superglue fuming) and packaging;
•        Supervising Evidence Custodian preparation of Laboratory Examination requests;
•        Conducting training for US and Iraqi personnel regarding latent print evidence procedures; and
•        Performing related duties benefiting the evidence collection and preservation for the mission.
Candidates must:
•        Meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information and will be subject to a government security
investigation.
•        Be able to successfully pass proficiency testing prior to and periodically during employment with the company.
•        Already have, or, within one year of eligibility, successfully obtain certification from IAI as an LPE.
•        Possess a valid and current U.S. passport.
•        Participate in pre-deployment training.
Duty rotation is a minimum four month tour in Iraq, 30-60 days rest and recreation back in the US, another four months in Iraq,
etc.  This is a good opportunity for a retiree seeking to supplement his or her income. This is a temporary position with an
estimated time frame of six months to two years.
Salary for well-qualified applicants is $108,000 to $158,400 annually, depending on the number of contract months. Free food,

Sr. Latent Print Examiner

Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: examination of processed latent fingerprints and
evaluation of their quality for entry into the DoD Enterprise ABIS;  preparation of latent fingerprints for entry into the ABIS
through photographic enlargements, tracing, photographic reduction and computer scanning;  improving the quality and
integrity of digitized computer images through enhancement or deletion of fingerprint details prior to computer searches for
matches;  manually comparing latent fingerprints with candidate fingerprints retrieved from ABIS in order to determine positive
identifications;  and preparing reports on the types and quantities of fingerprints processed and results.  High-volume
throughput lab experience preferred, as well as vast experience in the examination and identification of extremely fragmented
ridge detail AKA (Complex examinations).

The position may also involve supervisory duties including auditing other CLPE’s casework and mentoring less experienced
CLPE’s in best practices & procedures.  Familiarity with ASCLD-LAB and/or ISO SOPs is a must.

Requirements:

•        Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience plus 12 – 15 years of experience.

•        Current certification by the International Association for Identification (IAI) as a Latent Print Examiner.

Must:

•        Be customer- and detail-oriented in addition to possessing excellent verbal and written communication skills,  along with
good decision-making abilities.  

•        Meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information and will be subject to a government security
investigation.

•        Be able to successfully pass proficiency testing prior to and periodically during employment with the company.
•        Willing to relocate to Clarksburg, WV.

Stateside Tenprint/Biometrics Examiner

Several job openings are available on the Department of Defense Biometric Examination Services Team (BES Team), which
supports the United States military in its global fight against terrorism by processing digital images for identification purposes.  
Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: manually compare latent prints, on screen, with candidate
prints retrieved from ABIS in order to establish or eliminate positive identification,  in addition to verification of fingerprints to
validate the correct sequence.  Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills,  be customer- and detail-
oriented, and possess good decision-making abilities.  Experience with digital imaging is preffered.  In addition to these duties,
examiners will process face and iris images following training and certification as a Facial and Iris Recognition Expert by the
DoD.  Tenprint examiners will also be offered an opportunity to undergo an extensive two year training program to become
Latent Print Examiners (LPEs) and obtain certification as an LPE through the International Association for Identification.

The current positions are with Ideal Innovations, Inc. (I3) and contracted to the Department of Defense.  I3 has very competitive

County Sheriff’s Office is seeking applications for current and future vacancies for the position of
Criminalist. The position will perform specialized evaluations and examinations on various types of
physical evidence and will provide scientific consultation and/or interpret test results and form
conclusions. This position will prepare reports and testify in court. The emphasis for the immediate
vacancy will be in the fingerprint examination and analysis area.
EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES (ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY):
Performs expert fingerprint analysis but may be required to assist in other forensic disciplines such
as, drug chemistry, DNA, trace evidence and ballistics; Performs fingerprint development
procedures to include brush/powder techniques, cyanoacrylate (Super Glue) fuming, and
sequential chemical processing (DFO, ninhydrin, physical developer) in a laboratory setting or in
the field at a crime scene; documents and preserves developed fingerprints; may examine physical
evidence not necessarily related to fingerprints such as impression evidence, trace evidence,
blood evidence, biological substances, forensic imaging, computer forensics, DNA, or other
forensic evidence as the capabilities of the Crime Lab expand; prepares courtroom charts and
exhibits as they relate to the identification of fingerprint evidence, as well as preparing other
exhibits for courtroom use as required; testifies to the technique used to develop, compare and
identify fingerprints, as well as to the examination procedures and results concerning non-
fingerprint evidence as described above; retrieves evidence to be fingerprinted and re-packages
those items already fingerprinted; dictates reports documenting processing efforts and the
appropriate lab results; in addition, performs grant administrative work to include researching and
filing reports with the Department of Justice along with other Crime Lab administrative duties;
attends on-going training in order to maintain the necessary level of expertise and proficiency in
one or more areas of the forensic disciplines named above; maintains laboratory equipment and
inventory to ensure its proper functioning and calibration and keeps the lab orderly and
presentable at all times.
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s Degree in chemistry, physics, biology or forensic science or other highly related field;
minimum of one year of experience working in a forensic lab setting handling physical evidence;
Highly prefer a minimum of one year of work experience in fingerprint examination and analysis to
include work experience with AFIS (Automated Fingerprint Identification Systems) and fingerprint
image enhancement software. Knowledge of: Federal and State laws, regulations and guidelines
relating to criminal law and procedures, specifically criminal evidence law; proper evidence
handling and packaging and chemical formulation and preparation; proper procedures and standard
laboratory rules and safety precautions regarding chemical, toxins and biological substances; AFIS
and fingerprint imaging enhancement software. Ability to: Establish and maintain effective working
relationships with other employees, other law enforcement agencies, court personnel and the
general public; present complex information in an effective manner to audiences of varying sizes;
analyze facts, exercise sound judgment and coordinate efforts to resolve problems; assess and
prioritize work effectively; follow verbal and written instructions; make accurate observations and
records of test results; use various computer systems as it relates to fingerprint examination and
analysis, specifically Adobe Photo Shop and FORAY Technologies Imaging System utilizing the
Authenticated Digital Asset Management System; readily learn and apply the various methods and
techniques involved in the scientific analysis of evidence; work effectively with chemical and
biological hazards; capture, document and develop fingerprints using timed exposures and
alternative light source usage; see, hear and remember people, evidence, facts and circumstances;
bend, crouch, stoop, stretch or crawl periodically as needed. Skill in: Macro photography; dealing
